An 8-month-old boy died Wednesday after being left in a car outside an Ohio Walmart.
The incident appears to be a “tragic accident,” NBC reports; the child was supposed to be dropped off at daycare in the morning, but the guardian driving the vehicle left without noticing he was still in the backseat.
The child’s grandmother then took the car to her job at Walmart later in the day, still without noticing the young boy in the back. Around 5:30 p.m. Macedonia police arrived on the scene after reports of an unresponsive baby.
Police say this is “not a matter of foul play.”
