The members of Arcade Fire had mixed reactions while listening to both old and new pop songs during a game of “Jam or Not a Jam.”
Bandmates Win Butler, Régine Chassagne and Tim Kingsbury were asked to share their opinions on several singles during a sitdown with CBC Music’s Jesse Kinos-Goodin. The clip was filmed in conjunction with the premiere of the band’s new tour documentary, The Reflektor Tapes, at the Toronto International Film Festival, according to SPIN.
Butler has the most positive reaction of the three, giving the B-52s’ “Love Shaq” and Bryan Adams’ “Summer of ’69” a “Jam” rating, and stating that “Where Are You Now” is “the best Justin Bieber song that Diplo’s ever produced.”
On the other hand, Chassagne can barely stand to listen to Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk,” taking her headphones off after just a few seconds.
“No, I can’t do it,” she remarks.
She then pretends to fall asleep during The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” while Kingsbury sits there shaking his head. The only song Chassagne seems to enjoy is Ke-M Pa Sote’s “Boukman Eksperyans.”
We can’t all have the same taste in jams.
