N ew images of Pluto from NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft have arrived, and the photos are eerily beautiful. Pluto appears backlit by the sun, and viewers can see the varied terrain of the planet that looks similar to Arctic scenes on Earth.

But this image is also a scientific bonanza, revealing new details about Pluto’s atmosphere, mountains, glaciers and plains.”
