The best play of the game at Fenway Park Monday night was not made by the Boston Red Sox or the Chicago White Sox, but by a baseball fan in the upper deck who caught a foul ball with his bare hand — and a drink in the other.
Naturally, the crowd applauded the man, who sat back down and took out his phone, presumably to humble brag on social media.
As far as viral foul ball catches go, this one was impressive, almost on par with the Chicago Cubs fan who managed it while holding a 7-month-old baby or the other Cubs fan who caught the ball in her beer and then chugged the drink. And it’s definitely more graceful than the Angels fan who fell on an elderly woman.
