#Zayniscomingback may just be a Twitter rumor, but it’s causing anxiety and turmoil for One Direction fandom.
The hashtag started trending when some fans tweeted out that Zayn Malik’s bio page had reappeared on One Direction’s official website, at the same time that his goodbye post on Facebook was taken down, Hollywood Life reports. Others argue that his bio page was never even taken off the website.
Malik quit the boy band in March in order to be a “normal 22-year old.” At the time, the band declared that the four remaining members would go on to record their newest album without him.
The fandom has shown mixed feelings about Malik’s potential return. Some are excited that things might go back to normal while others are echoing a sense of betrayal that Malik ever left in the first place.
Speculation has been growing on social media, but no official announcements have been made that Malik is rejoining the band.
According to Hollywood Life, Malik, along with some of his former 1D bandmates, is nominated for Choice Male Hottie at this week’s Teen Choice Awards.
