Emma Watson’s character in the upcoming Regression remembers being sexually abused by her father—but he doesn’t recall the incident himself. Ethan Hawke plays a detective brought in to get to the bottom of the incident, but as he questions Watson, the story only seems to get stranger, and the web of scandal wider.
Director and screenwriter Alejandro Amenabar helms the project. He’s previously made waves with The Others and The Sea Inside, which won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2004. Regression opens in theaters Aug. 28.
