R. Martin may be the mastermind behind the grim _Game of Thrones_ book series, but he has a surprisingly goofy giggle in real life. And that [giggle played over and over](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuOXSa2ovog "undefined") is somewhat terrifying. We’re not quite sure what is making Martin laugh so much in this clip, especially since the characters on the HBO adaptation of his series currently don’t have [much to smile about](http://time.com/3853309/game-of-thrones-watch-fear-and-mistakes/ "undefined").
