Here’s What Kind of Tacos Astronauts Eat in Space

1 minute read

Are you celebrating Cinco de Mayo with some delicious tacos today? Well, NASA astronaut Scott Kelly is doing the very same thing aboard the International Space Station. Well, he’s indulging in tacos. But we can’t say they look particularly delicious.

Kelly tweeted a photo of his special space taco, which consists of rehydrated eggs, sausage and hot sauce on a tortilla. Behold:

It doesn’t look great, but it’s important to remember that astronauts can’t exactly cook the way we do on Earth. As Mashable points out, astronauts on the International Space Station can rehydrate pre-made food by adding water. There is an oven on the station, but most of the food supply comes in dehydrated form.

Still, though: space tacos! Space tacos.
