Barack Obama‘s teenage daughters may not want to be seen with him, but at least one kid still thinks the president is pretty cool.
On Saturday, 4-year-old Luca Martinez sent Obama off in style with a fist bump fit for a superhero, CNN reports.
Luca had tagged along with his father, Associated Press photographer Pablo Martinez Monsivais, to watch Obama, 53, board the Marine One helicopter on the South Lawn of the White House. Such a special occasion called for special attire, naturally, so Luca dressed up in a superhero outfit and goggles.
The president took note. When he spotted Luca in the press area with his dad, Obama stopped to bump knuckles with his new hero before taking off in the chopper.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment, but Luca played it cool.
“Luca wasn’t starstruck and was very calm for a 4-year-old who just greeted the president,” his father tells PEOPLE. “By the way, he knows who ‘POTUS’ is; he says that ‘Barack Obama is President of Washington D.C.’ ”
Close enough.
Fist bumps are all the rage in the Capitol these days. Sens. Rand Paul and Harry Reid got in on the action with a Senate-floor fist bump on April 22, adding sunglasses to elevate the cool factor.
But if you’re wondering whose pound was hipper, well, let’s just say little Luca’s came complete with an exploding fist.
