A University of Oregon runner got a little ahead of himself at the recent Pepsi Team Invitational — and by “got a little ahead of himself” we mean he celebrated his victory before actually crossing the finish line and then ended up losing. Whoops.
During the men’s steeplechase race, runner Tanguy Pepiot really thought he had it on lock, so he pulled one of those “I can’t hear you!” moves to get the crowd pumped. What he didn’t realize, of course, was the other runner hot on his heels, who managed to inch past him with just seconds to spare.
As the commentator in the above video says, “You just can’t do this kind of stuff.”
