A Very Iconic Part of Star Wars Just Changed Forever

1 minute read

The triumphant score before Star Wars has been replaced and subdued.

As the six films in the Star Wars saga will be available for digital download Friday, nerdy fans will realize the booming Twentieth Century Fox score that preceded those classic films is no more. That makes sense — Star Wars production company Lucasfilm was bought by Disney in 2012, and there’s no reason Disney would keep using Fox’s fanfare. Still, the original Fox score was such an iconic part of the Star Wars experience that it can be a little jarring not to hear it this time around.

You can also expect to hear the changed fanfare before the new upcoming Star Wars films, staring with The Force Awakens, which opens on Dec. 18 in the U.S.
