Warner Bros. Picks Up Film Rights to Five Nights at Freddy’s Video Game

1 minute read

Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to transform the dark video game Five Nights at Freddy’s into a feature film.

EW has confirmed the Warner Bros. acquisition of Scott Cawthon’s survival horror game and that the adaptation will be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, and Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The 2014 point-and-click game takes place in the fictional pizza place Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, where the player takes on the role of night security guard. The goal of the game is to defend yourself from the malfunctioning animatronic animal band during a night locked inside the pizza parlor. Think a demonic version of Chuck E. Cheese and you have a good mental picture already.

There is no writer or director attached to the project yet.
