James Taylor hasn’t released an album of original songs since 2002’s October Road, but he’s making a comeback this summer when he releases Before This World.
“It’s a very different kind of thing to prepare an album of original songs,” he told The Boston Globe. “I just needed to get back into the habit of writing lyrics.”
Taylor has spent the time between albums working on this one and releasing an album of covers—titled, aptly, Covers—in 2008. Before This World arrives June 16.
