Aquaman’s long been kind of a joke in the comic-book world, but that’s about to change, if Zack Snyder and Jason Momoa have anything to say about it.
Snyder, director of the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, has been canny about Tweeting preview images from the hotly anticipated film, and his latest is of Momoa, better known as Game of Thrones‘s Khal Drogo and Conan the Barbarian, all done up as the fish-whispering hero. (That’s his power. He talks to fish. And swims really well, one would imagine.)
The 35-year-old Momoa was a long-rumored choice to play Aquaman, and if this photo is any indication, the Aquaman jokes will need to stop. Momoa is bringing his impressive physique, trademark glower and kohl-rimmed eyes to the role, along with what appear to be some Maori-inspired tattoos and a rather large trident.
Good luck getting any jokes about fish sticks past this guy. Batman v Superman currently has a premiere date of March 25, 2016.
