Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is “seriously considering” staying in school for another year, reports Yahoo Sports’ Rand Getlin.
Winston’s father told ESPN earlier Tuesday that the redshirt sophomore will wait until next week to announce whether he will declare for the NFL draft.
Winston, who has two years of eligibility remaining, has until Jan. 15 to declare for the draft. His announcement will come after the College Football Championship game on Jan. 12. His father had said in June that his son planned to graduate from Florida State before entering the NFL, meaning he would go pro after his redshirt junior season.
If Winston returns for a third season, he will do so with a 29-1 record and Heisman Trophy under his belt. Winston led Florida State to a national championship after the 2013 season and to the semifinals of the inaugural College Football Playoff this season. In his college career, Winston has thrown for more than 7,900 yards and 65 touchdowns. After his first career loss to Oregon in the semifinal game, Winston hinted at a potential return to school.

“I’m looking forward to next season and playing baseball,” Winston said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “So I’m just trying to get better every day.”
When he decides go pro, Winston is expected to be a high draft choice.
