Though Toy Story fans will have to wait until 2017 for the next feature-length installment in the franchise, they can get a peek inside the backpack of the toys’ new owner, Bonnie, at 8 p.m. Tuesday night when ABC airs the 30-minute Christmas special Toy Story That Time Forgot.
In last year’s Halloween-themed Toy Story of Terror, Woody and Buzz ceded the limelight to Jessie. The new special focuses on another supporting character from Toy Story’s deep bench, Trixie the dinosaur, one of Bonnie’s original toys.
When Bonnie goes on a post-Christmas playdate, Trixie and the other toys meet a group of jacked dinosaurs who have the same delusions about their toy status that Buzz had in the first Toy Story film. Trixie struggles between her potentially treacherous dinosaur identity and her role in Bonnie’s toy box as a sweeter creature as the toys are thrust into a gladiatorial arena by their dino-hosts.
Here are the new characters they encounter.
