Peter Dinklage will take a break from Westeros and spend some time in turn-of-the-century Texas — though it sounds like there will still be plenty of blood and gore.
The Game of Thrones star has been tapped to star in the upcoming crime thriller The Thicket, based on Joe R. Lansdale’s 2013 novel. Variety reports that Dinklage will play a “a crafty bounty hunter named Shorty,” who teams up with a couple of misfits to help a young man rescue his kidnapped sister from a violent and sadistic gang. The story takes place in East Texas and the group follows the gang into a feral, heavily forested area known as The Big Thicket.
The adaptation is being produced by Gianni Nunnari’s Hollywood Gang Productions, as well as Dinklage and his manager David Ginsberg. “That Joe Lansdale’s dark vision will be brought to life by the brilliantly talented Peter Dinklage starring as Shorty — it is a dream of mine,” Nunnari said in a statement.
