LP isn’t yet a household name, but the L.A.-based singer-songwriter has been building quite the resume for herself, writing songs for the likes of Rihanna and Christina Aguilera and releasing three studio albums. Her latest, Forever for Now, didn’t just mark her major-label debut when it came out earlier this summer — it also was the the first album from the performer (real name Laura Pergolizzi) in 10 years.
Though she’s got buzz to her name since signing to Warner Bros., LP is keeping it focused on the music: in the clip for “Tokyo Sunrise,” which premieres exclusively at TIME today, she stays obscured in the shadows while taiko drums fittingly pound in the background. We’ll see how long she can stay out of the limelight — with a voice as distinct as hers, she could be in the fast lane from L.A. to Tokyo (at sunrise) in no time.
Watch up top.
