NBC has unveiled a first look at Allison Williams as Peter Pan.
The TODAY show shared on Twitter the first photo of the Girls star in costume for her role as the boy who wouldn’t grow up.
Williams, 26, was cast as the lead in NBC’s upcoming live television production of Peter Pan due to be broadcast Dec. 4, a role she has said she’s been wanting to play since she was “about three years old.” The first image from the musical shows Williams in the classic Peter costume, complete with green vest and short hair:
Of her hairstyle, the actress wrote on Instagram, “Fun fact: I was all ready to cut my hair, then was told by the folks who actually know what they’re doing that a wig works better for everybody.”
In addition to the wig, Williams has been learning the ropes for all the on-stage flying she’ll be doing.
The telecast of Peter Plan Live! was planned following the success of last year’s live production of The Sound of Music, starring Carrie Underwood. A live production for The Music Man is also in the works.
