L’Wren Scott Death Declared Suicide

Prominent fashion designer L’Wren Scott took her own life by hanging herself, the New York City medical examiner’s office announced Wednesday.

The announcement confirms what most suspected in the death of Scott, 49, who was also the longtime girlfriend of Mick Jagger, CNN reports.

“The manner of death was determined to be suicide,” said a spokesperson for the medical examiner’s office.

The former model transitioned into life as a designer and worked with celebrity clients, including Madonna. She had been dating Jagger since at least 2003.

“I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,” Jagger said in a statement. “We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had a great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.”
