The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards are sorely lacking in the one ingredient that made last year’s show worth watching (hint: it starts with a “B” and ends with a “yoncé”). But there are still more than a few reasons to tune into the 34th annual ceremony Sunday night, including performances from Kendrick Lamar, who holds the most nominations this year, and Katy Perry, who’s also hosting.
The ceremony will air live on MTV, for a second consecutive year, from the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. ET. Red carpet coverage will begin at 7 p.m., and a pre-show concert featuring Khalid, Bleachers and rapper Cardi B will take place at 6 p.m. ET. The pre-show will be co-hosted by rapper Lil Yachty, actor and TV host Terrence J, radio presenter Charlamagne Tha God and MTV News Correspondent Gaby Wilson.
