Wednesday night’s 50th annual Country Music Awards were, as ever, a celebratory affair. But not everyone is enamored by the country stars—especially not all the (mostly) anonymous denizens of Twitter. As has now become routine, Jimmy Kimmel Live scraped the social site for the best insulting tweets about everyone from Bonnie Raitt to Miranda Lambert to Little Big Town, and got the musicians themselves to read them out (and respond, of course).
“Why does the blonde in Little Big Town have hair like a Zoolander villain?” asks one detractor, as the singing quartet bursts out laughing. “Aw, man,” the blonde in question sighs.
Lifetime Achievement Award winner Dolly Parton also gets lampooned.
“It’s not a hooker convention, it’s a Dolly Parton concert,” Parton reads. Her response? “I guess I should feel hurt, but I don’t, because I pattern my look after a hooker,” she explains with an unconcerned pout. Dolly: yes, still flawless.
For further gems from country legends like Willie Nelson and modern favorites like Florida Georgia Line and Hunter Hayes, you’ll want to watch the video above.
