Beyoncé paused her performance of “Single Ladies” during a show in St. Louis so backup dancer John Silver could put a ring on it by proposing to her dance captain Ashley Everett.
“She’s my queen, so I feel like it’s only right to come out here in my hometown,” Silver said before getting down on one knee as the crowd screamed in excitement. Everett accepted the proposal, and received an immediate blessing from Beyoncé, who quickly scurried away to let the couple have their moment.
“Now let’s see you do the choreography after that,” Beyoncé joked.
Everett posted photos from the night on Instagram, writing, “Shocked is an understatement. I’m so overly excited for this new chapter in our lives and of course I can’t wait to be your WIFE!!!”
Everett did not forget the choreography, and jumped right back into dancing to “Single Ladies.”
