Leslie Jones celebrated her 49th birthday Wednesday, and it was one for the books.
This year has been a ride for the comedian. The downs: she was harassed online after being cast in the Ghostbusters reboot, she endured a racist and sexist website hack. The ups: she breezed by the vitriol when she galvanized people on the Internet to support Gabby Douglas, she joined NBC’s Olympics coverage in Rio and had a shining red carpet movie moment. After all of that, it was time to celebrate her birthday, which was a very festive celebration indeed.
It appears everything went swimmingly for this woman who can’t be bothered to care enough about the haters swarming her Twitter feed to pretend like she isn’t living her life to its fullest potential. Here’s how she partied.
The beginnings of this blessed occasion:
Just after midnight, she opened up by wishing herself a happy birthday, as one does to alert anyone not in the loop that a special occasion is about to pop off.
She breathed in her view from the terrace.
The menu:
She drank drinks fit for a queen in fantastic company, even though Kenan Thompson seemed insufficiently excited considering how cool the affair was.
As she thumbed through some good old Leslie Jones appreciation on Twitter, she happened upon this birthday wish with a Ghostbusters cake from someone who was not even invited to the party.
Her chocolatey cake was one for the books, complete with sparklers and her Twitter handle, and she again wished herself a happy birthday.
Speaking of appropriate desserts, Jones thanked Sprinkles for her 60 free birthday cupcakes by fixing this song from the The Sound of Music.
The final broadcasts:
The festivities continued at Marquee, which is still a nightclub in New York City’s meatpacking district. She made this primo facial expression in a denim getup.
She reminded everyone of her age, which is never a reason for a person to sit down, shut up and wear something boring and closed by peppering in her signature catchphrase.
Happy birthday Leslie!
