Amy Schumer Says She’ll Move to Spain if Donald Trump Wins the Election

Sep 07, 2016

Expect drastic changes to Amy Schumer’s comedic act if the Republican nominee Donald Trump wins the presidential election this November.

“My act will change because I’ll need to learn Spanish,” quipped the award-winning comedian in an interview with the BBC's Newsnight, “because I will move to Spain or somewhere. It’s beyond my comprehension if Trump won.”

U.S. politics wasn’t the only topic on the table. The wide-ranging interview covered everything from her introversion to sexuality and feminism.

When interviewer Emily Maitlis brought up a tendency that some women have to apologize even when it’s not necessary, Schumer said that she “had to work to stop doing that.”

“I say ‘I’m sorry’ a lot less than I probably should,” she joked.

Schumer also told the Newsnight program that anyone who isn’t a feminist is “an insane person.”

“I think they don’t know what feminism means,” she said. “It just means equality for women. But I think that word has a whole different meaning for different people. So someone will say to me: ‘You’re not a feminist are you?’… Of course I am. Of course I want equal rights for women.”

Schumer, whose memoir The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo has just been published, is currently touring the U.K.
