An 8-year-old boy died after he was found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a Pennsylvania amusement park Saturday, officials said.
Yassin Boudriss had been lying in about three feet of water for several minutes at Knoebels Amusement Park & Resort, Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn told The Daily Item. The coroner said the boy may have been affected by a medical condition before he entered the pool, the newspaper reports.
Knoebels said in a statement on Facebook that “a tragedy occurred” about 3 p.m. Saturday. A lifeguard immediately initiated emergency care after finding the boy unresponsive, and the child was taken to a hospital, the amusement park said.
“The Knoebel family and team members had been hoping and praying for the best possible outcome, but are saddened to have learned from local authorities that the young boy has passed away,” the statement said. “Please join us in keeping the boy’s family in your prayers.”
