More women have come forward to accuse Fox News CEO Roger Ailes of sexual harassment, New York magazine reports, after former host Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit Wednesday arguing she was fired for refusing to sleep with Ailes and that he reacted with hostility to her complaints about sexism in the workplace.
New York on Saturday published interviews with six more women accusing Ailes of harassment over decades, including two women who gave their full names and four who requested anonymity.
Ailes’s outside legal counsel refuted the accusations in a statement on Saturday.
“It has become obvious that Ms. Carlson and her lawyer are desperately attempting to litigate this in the press because they have no legal case to argue. The latest allegations, all 30 to 50 years old, are false,” said Barry Asen of the Epstein Becker Green law firm.
Kellie Boyle, 54, former Republican National Committee field adviser, said Ailes propositioned her in 1989, according to the magazine. She said she was not hired for a contract with the National Republican Congressional Committee after she turned him down.
Marsha Callahan, 73, a former model, said she met Ailes in 1968 or 1967, when he was the producer for The Mike Douglas Show. Callahan said Ailes judged her physical appearance during their meeting and told her she’d have to sleep with him to get on the show. “I had to do these different poses,” she said, according to the magazine. “And then, I recall very clearly, he said he’d put me on the show but I needed to go to bed with him.”
