In a video that has clocked over 17 million views, a rat does what any mother would do when their defenceless brood is in the jaws of a beast: she fights back.

In this heated clip by Facebook user Rojas Montecino Evy, a brave mama rat springs to her baby’s rescue as it is carried away by a hungry snake.

Let’s just say this furious battle has a happy ending.
