Carrie Underwood was nominated for three awards at Wednesday night’s CMT Music Awards, and won two — one for Performance of the Year; the other for Female Video of the Year — but her most impressive moment of the evening, fans are saying, was her performance of her new single “Church Bells.”
It began with a stark banjo riff before she confidently dove into the heat of things. A gospel choir, clad in black, joined in later on to complement Underwood’s husky vocals.
