German police say a man has been arrested after stabbing four people, killing one, at a suburban train station at Grafing, close to Munich, early Tuesday morning.
An assailant attacked four people with a knife, and police said one of the people died in the hospital, the Associated Press reported.
Reports said witnesses heard the attacker shouting in Arabic during the assault, raising the possibility of a link to Islamist terrorism. But police say there is currently no evidence the attacker was radicalized or part of an Islamic extremist network, the AP reported.
The AP said police had identified the attacker only as a 27-year-old German citizen.
A senior police official said a woman reported hearing, “infidel, you must die” at the time of the stabbing, according to the AP. Some witnesses claimed the man shouted “Allahu akbar” — God is great — during the attacks, according to the BBC. There are still conflicting reports about whether the man may have had political motivations for the attack.
