To commemorate his departure from Esquire, the magazine he has edited for nearly two decades, David Granger sat down with George Clooney, who had appeared on the magazine’s cover eight times previously. The ensuing interview marked the ninth, and also gave us insight to what’s keeping Clooney busy these days.
Not that the answer was particularly surprising. In short, he’s still very much in love with his wife, Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin), the eminent human-rights attorney whom he married two years ago.
“I’ve never been happier in a relationship by any stretch of the imagination,” Clooney told Granger. “At 52 I found the love of my life and I’m really happy.”
He also shed light on the human side of his friend Bill Murray.
“He’s incredibly warm and emotional,” Clooney said. “He gave a toast at our wedding that was so elegant and beautiful and warm and he’s such a loving individual. And he’s adaptable to any place he goes. Everybody’s life is a puzzle that’s missing this one piece, and he fits in each time.”
