Correction appended, April 5
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power revealed to Seth Meyers on Tuesday how she very nearly turned down a job with U.S. President Barack Obama in 2005 due to Boston Red Sox season tickets.
Obama, who was senator at the time, had asked Power in 2005 to come work for him, but the only thing holding her back was losing “a slice of a package” of Red Sox season tickets, which she had been waiting years to get. “Do I fulfill my pledge to first term Senator Barack Obama and lose my tickets?” says Power, who ended up taking the job.

Correction: The original version of this story misstated the surname of the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. She is Samantha Power.
