Watch the Video for Fifth Harmony’s New Single ‘Work from Home’

Adjust your out-of-office replies accordingly: Fifth Harmony just gave you a reason to “Work From Home” with the first single off its sophomore album, 7/27, which arrives May 20.

The girl group also unveiled the accompanying video for the Ty Dolla $ign collaboration, which finds the five The X Factor alumnae working up a sweat at a desert construction site.

“A lot of our videos have been more about looking pretty and beauty shoots,” Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui says. “This one, we were getting dirty and dancing in a pool in Timberlands. We got to really dance and be ourselves.”

Though the quintet dressed up like CEOs for the “Worth It” video and sang about “getting Oprah dollars” on last year’s Reflection, you can tell from the video that the “work” Fifth Harmony is singing about here has little to do with employment. “Nothing but sheets in between us/ ain’t no getting off early,” Ally Brooke Hernandez sings during the second verse.

With “Work From Home,” Fifth Harmony joins the growing club of other “Work”-minded pop stars including Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea, Ciara and Rihanna. (“My other favorite ‘Work’ is definitely Rihanna’s,” Jauregui says. “I sing that song all the frickin’ time. It’s amazing. It’s Rih, bro! It’s Rih!”)

But the track’s hip-hop flavor is just a small taste of what listeners will find on 7/27, which is named for the date of the group’s formation. “There are some island vibes, there are some pop anthems,” she says. “We all got to show a side of ourselves.”

No longer newcomers to making an album, Jauregui says she and her bandmates felt more comfortable speaking up and calling the shots about their musical direction this time. “The writers listened to us and our input—what should go here, take that out, put this in,” she says. “These songwriters and producers have seen us grow and value our opinion a lot. Not that they didn’t before, but it’s really cool to be able to go into the studio and have that new control.”
