Bernie Sanders joined indie rock group Vampire Weekend on stage to sing This Land Is Your Land during a rally in Iowa on Saturday.
The Vermont senator and Democratic presidential hopeful appeared with the band at the end of the rally at the University of Iowa to belt out the tune by Woody Guthrie, the New York Times reports. “You know we got to play one more for Bernie, right?” a band member says, according to video of the performance. “We know he likes this one.”
Vampire Weekend singer Ezra Koenig later called Sanders a “once-in-a-lifetime candidate,” according to Rolling Stone. Sanders’ campaign released a statement calling the event a “blast-the-rafters concert,” the Times reports.
