You Can Now Apply to Become a NASA Astronaut

Want a job that’s out of this world? Apply to become an astronaut.

NASA on Monday launched its application process to find its newest batch of space explorers. Adventure seekers can now apply to work full-time for the space agency in some positions that can take them on long journeys to Mars, NASA said.

“Today, more new human spacecraft are in development in the United States than at any time in history,” the agency said in its long job listing. “Future astronaut candidates will have the opportunity to explore farther in space than humans have ever been.”

Annual salaries range from $66,000 to about $145,000. Flying experience is not a requirement, NASA said, and job seekers don’t have to be rocket scientists. An advanced degree is not required to become an astronaut, and neither is perfect vision nor military experience.

The application process ends on Feb. 18.
