Marshawn Lynch Developed a ‘Beast Mode’ Frappuccino for Starbucks

2 minute read

Starbucks already put a little pumpkin spice in your life with its fall menu, but there’s a new drink coming to select stores before holiday beverage season arrives.

It’s called the Beast Mode Frappuccino, and it gets its name from Seattle Seahawks player Marshawn Lynch, who helped develop the drink and whose playing style earned him the nickname “Beast Mode.”

Here’s how Starbucks describes what’s in it:

The new blended beverage … is a double mocha Frappuccino with a hint of mint and cream and just enough protein powder to unleash your inner Beast Mode. It’s topped with whipped cream, then finished with a purple berry drizzle and a sprinkle of matcha.

“I’d drink this before a workout,” Lynch said in a statement. “You could get your buff on with this.”

You’ll be able to “get your buff on” too when the drink hits select stores on Oct. 22. And while a creamy Frappuccino doesn’t exactly scream “guilt-free” when it comes to your diet, you’ll at least be slurping for a good cause: Starbucks says that for every Beast Mode Frappuccino sold during football season in the state of Washington or Lynch’s hometown of Oakland, Calif., the company will donate 24 cents—Lynch’s number is 24—to the Fam 1st Family Foundation, which was co-founded by Lynch and supports underprivileged youth. (Starbucks will contribute up to $100,000, with a $24,000 minimum contribution.)
