Morning Must Reads: September 10

3 minute read

Anti-establishment fervor took over Washington Wednesday with a joint anti-Iran deal rally organized by the Tea Party Patriots that brought together Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, and the stars of Duck Dynasty, but their efforts can’t undo the fact that the deal is all-but-certain to go into effect, with Democrats possessing enough votes to secure the agreement for President Obama. Conservative lawmakers such as Cruz and Rand Paul are giving GOP leadership trouble, as they call for the defunding of Planned Parenthood as part of a measure to keep the government open beyond this month—setting up a potential shut down fight in the coming weeks.

Hillary Clinton has assembled one of the most expansive teams of any presidential candidate in history, but it is a shadowy web of connected organizations run by a former critic that is doing her dirty work. David Brock, who runs Media Matters, Correct the Record, and sits on the board of the Clinton super PAC Priorities USA, among others, stands at the center of the Democratic machine defending Clinton from all comers and issuing propaganda to her supporters, TIME’s Michael Scherer reports.
