Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are almost done with their follow-up to 2012’s The Heist, the album that spawned “Thrift Shop” and turned the duo from indie underdogs to unlikely chart-toppers. Today, they released “Growing Up (Sloane’s Song),” their first new song in three years; the tune also serves as a love letter to Macklemore’s newborn daughter.
On the Ed Sheeran-assisted track, Macklemore raps with frankness about how he’ll juggle parental responsibilities with his career: “Don’t wanna be a dad that’s living in FaceTime, but I got a world to sing to and you at the same time.” Awww, Dad, stop, you’re embarrassing me!
