HERE’S LOOKING AT SHOE Born in 1928, the photographer Frank Horvat has moved from fashion magazines to, in recent years, digital photography. Throughout, his richly varied work has been united by his abiding curiosity, as in his exploration of seedy 1950s Paris. Now 200 images representing six decades’ worth of work (including 1974’s Shoe and Eiffel Tower) are going on display at the group show “Newton. Horvat. Brodziak,” starting June 4 in Berlin.

This is your first themed record since your Christmas album, Noël. What motivated you?

There needs to be more risk taking out there. Things like Twitter and the blogosphere are so instantaneously critical that it’s actually created a culture of artistic fear to branch out too much because you don’t want to be slammed. I don’t usually think of it in terms of “Maybe I’ll go country next” or “Maybe I’ll go R&B next”–I try to use some of those influences when I can within the record.

You could probably break the Internet with an album of ’90s R&B slow jams.

I definitely break karaoke when my friends have birthday parties. I’m not going to say that when I sing R&B slow-jam ’90s songs we get free nachos, but I’m not going to say we don’t get free nachos. It’s pretty magical.

You’re known for being witty on social media. How often do you check your Twitter app to see how well your jokes are doing?

I don’t have the luxury of being able to have push notifications on Twitter, otherwise it would explode. But I check in every now and then to make sure I didn’t put my foot in my mouth, because I’m dad-joke king. I’ll tell a joke, not knowing that thing was really serious in the news that day.

What’s the ultimate dad joke?

I wrote a pretty good dad joke in the car: How did the grammar teacher die?

Photographer David Leventi spent eight years producing “Opera,” an exhibit opening at New York City’s Rick Wester Fine Art gallery on May 7 and coming out as a book in June. His pictures–like this shot from inside the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza, Italy–are often taken from the perspective of the singer facing the audience, a rare view for the less musically inclined.

This season, the Wilmington, Del., Blue Rocks partnered with Krispy Kreme to unleash this $7.50 hot dog (plus chips) wrapped in a glazed-doughnut bun. Optional toppings: bacon and raspberry jelly.

FRIED S’MOREO

Texas Rangers fans can now feast on this $8 graham-cracker-coated marshmallow between two deep-fried, battered Oreos–all placed on a skewer and drizzled with chocolate.

THE CLOSER

At the Pittsburgh Pirates’ PNC Park, this $14 triple-decker grilled cheese boasts candied bacon, Granny Smith apple slices, leek compote and nine different cheeses. It’s named after former Pirate Jason Grilli.

PULLED-PORK PARFAIT

The Milwaukee Brewers’ Miller Park recently rolled out this $7 creation, comprising layers of mashed potatoes alternated with layers of pulled pork and topped with gravy and chives.
