Mel Brooks may be writing a sequel to Spaceballs, and the title says everything you need to know: Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.
Speaking on Adam Carolla’s Take a Knee podcast last week, Brooks, according to E! Online, said: “If I did a movie that came out right after Star Wars comes out, you know, maybe a couple of months later, Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money, I’d have a big weekend, you know, no matter what, even if it fell on its ass and you know, didn’t get that money back.”
The working title is a reference to the sequel that the Star Wars parody saw for itself when it came out in 1987.
J. J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release on Dec. 18. After the first new Star Wars film in 10 years, it’s only natural that Brooks would follow up with a remake of his own cult hit. Fans can only hope.
