Wheel of Fortune Contestant Solves 13-Letter Puzzle During First Try

The Wheel of Fortune category was “character,” but maybe it should have been called “no sweat.”

After Vanna White flipped an “E” during Friday’s show, contestant Matt DeSanto correctly guessed “The Lone Ranger ” – and went on to win more than $91,000 after nailing all of the puzzles.

“I don’t want to cause trouble at home, but I think there’s a connection with you and Vanna,” quipped host Pat Sajak.

While a show spokewoman was loathe to call his solve a show record – especially when there have been so many bigger milestones on the game show – it was the biggest total win for a contestant going into the bonus round.

Thank goodness he didn’t guess horse.
