Malcolm Glazer, the owner of the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has died, the football team confirmed Wednesday. Glazer, who was 85, also owned the Champion’s League soccer team Manchester United.
A successful investor valued at $4 billion, according to Forbes, Glazer became the owner of the Buccaneers franchise in 1995. He bought Manchester United in 2005.
A resident of Palm Beach, Florida, Glazer is survived by his wife Linda, who, with their six children, will continue to own and operate the Buccaneers.
Under Glazers’ ownership, the Buccaneers secured five playoff wins and the teams’ first Super Bowl championship, which came in 2002.
In addition to his work as an investor and team owner, Glazer launched the charitable Glazer Family Foundation in 1999 to oversee donations to various causes and programs.
