Of course, resolutions look a little different in 2021 as the world continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic. While some gyms around the country have cautiously reopened, many of us are still opting to work out from home.
To that end, we’ve rounded up some ways to get your sweat on for free while we get through this pandemic together and make good on your New Year’s resolutions in the process.
Many popular gyms and fitness studios are offering free streaming workout classes you can take in the comfort of your own home.
Indoor-biking company Peloton is offering a free membership in its app for 60 days, up from the usual 30 it offers. You don’t even need a Peloton bike to take advantage of it, since Peloton also offers virtual yoga, stretching, meditation, strength training and cardio classes, none of which require owning equipment. Budget fitness chain Blink is hosting free classes on its Facebook page live once per week. Can’t make it to a live class? Don’t sweat it: the classes will live on the Blink page for you to check out at your leisure. Many of them focus on cardio, core, and full bodyweight circuit workouts. Planet Fitness offers a similar perk, streaming full body, lower body and more 20-minute classes on its Facebook page at 7 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
Streaming service Obé Fitness hosts a range of workouts — from sculpt to cardio boxing and everything in between — as well as programs from some of the most popular instructors in New York City. You can opt to do live or on-demand workouts depending on your mood and schedule of the day, too. Memberships start at $27 per month, but you can sign up for a month-long free trial. You can also take advantage of cashback services to get even more money off.
If you’d rather keep things really simple, there are also a handful of free YouTube streaming workouts and programs available, too. Some of the most notable are Chloe Ting, Blogilates and Yoga With Adriene. Even popular gyms such as OrangeTheory Fitness host daily at-home workout videos on YouTube.
Of course, streaming services and classes aren’t the only way to get your safe and socially distanced exercise. You can absolutely get in a good sweat going on a walk, running or even just doing some yoga or stretching in a nearby park.
But if you want the guidance of a professional instructor and also save money, you’ll be able to do both seamlessly with these tricks up your sleeve.
