The Capital One Venture Rewards Card has a new welcome bonus just in time for summer vacation.

This week, Capital One announced that new Venture cardholders can earn 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 within the first three months. The new offer is 15,000 miles more than the previous one — 60,000 miles after spending $3,000 within the first three months of account opening. That’s up to an extra $150 toward travel if you can meet the new spending threshold.

The $95 annual fee Venture card’s new 75,000-mile bonus put its welcome offer on par with Capital One’s more premium travel card option — the Capital One Venture X Credit Card, which carries a much higher $395 annual fee. With the Venture X, you’ll earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending the same $4,000 within three months of account opening.

The latest boosted offer from Capital One is among a few welcome bonus increases we’ve seen lately, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred’s new 60,000-point bonus and Marriott Bonvoy Brillant Card’s 100,000 bonus point offer. If you’re considering a new travel credit card, a great welcome bonus could help you save on your next trip and earn points toward future travel.

Here’s everything to know about the Venture card’s latest welcome bonus and other perks the card includes:

How to Use the Capital One Venture Credit Card

The Capital One Venture Card is one of our top travel credit card picks. Among travel cards, it also carries a relatively low annual fee, at $95 per year.

We like the Venture card for your ability to earn rewards toward travel on your everyday expenses, with a flat 2x miles on every purchase. In addition, you can get 5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel and also now get 5x miles when you book rental cars through the Turo app or

The card also includes up to a $100 credit towards Global Entry or TSA PreCheck every four years, no foreign transaction fees, and two complimentary visits to Capital One Lounge locations annually.

How to Maximize the Capital One Venture 75,000 Mile Welcome Bonus

According to Capital One, the Venture card’s new 75,000-mile welcome offer is worth $750 when you redeem for travel.

To earn the bonus, you’ll need to spend $4,000 within three months of account opening, or an average of $1,333 each month. If that’s not already within your regular budget, you may consider applying when you’re ready to book a vacation on your card or make another big purchase that you’ve already saved for and can pay off.

Plus, you’ll earn rewards while working toward earning the bonus. The Venture card’s earns a flat 2x miles on any purchase, so $4,000 in spending is worth 8,000 miles earned — or another $80 toward travel on top of your bonus. Just make sure the spending falls within your budget to avoid overspending and debt.

When you’re ready to redeem your rewards, you can use them to cover previous travel purchases made with your card (within 90 days of the purchase) and also to book travel through Capital One Travel. Other redemption options include cash in the form of a check or account credit and gift cards, though Capital One says the value of these options may vary.

Another way to get the maximum value from your miles is to transfer them to a Capital One partner. Here’s a list of Capital One’s travel partners, which you can  transfer miles at a 1:1 ratio:

  • Aeromexico Club Premier
  • Aeroplan
  • Asia Miles
  • Avianca LifeMiles
  • British Airways Executive Club
  • Choice Privileges
  • Emirates Skywards
  • Etihad Guest
  • Finnair Plus
  • Flying Blue
  • Qantas Frequent Flyer
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • TAP Miles&Go
  • Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
  • Virgin Red

You can also transfer miles to EVA Air Infinity MileageLands at a 2:1.5 ratio and Accor Live Limitless at a 2:1 transfer ratio.

Deciding Between the Capital One Venture and Venture X

Now that the Capital One Venture and Venture X Rewards cards have the same welcome offer, other card details — like the annual fees, rewards, and added benefits — can help you decide which one is best for you.

The Venture Card comes with a $95 annual fee, and earns a flat 2x miles on every purchase, plus 5x miles on hotels and rental cards booked through Capital One. If you’re looking for a travel card that can help you earn miles toward travel on your everyday spending, this is a great low annual fee option. The Venture X has a higher annual fee of $395, and a few additional perks — in addition to the same flat 2x miles on every puchase, you’ll earn unlimited 10x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel and 5x miles on flights booked through Capital One Travel.

Pro Tip

Now, Venture and Venture X cardholders can earn rewards when booking cars with Turo, a carsharing rental company. Venture cardholders can earn 5x miles through the Turo app or, and Venture X cardholders can earn 10x miles, through May 2023.

If you travel often, the Venture X Card has more luxury travel perks to offset its $395 annual fee. You’ll get a $300 travel statement credit annually, Priority Pass Select airport lounge membership, up to $100 toward TSA Precheck/Global Entry, unlimited Capital One Lounge access, and 10,000 bonus miles after each account anniversary.

If you’re not a frequent traveler, or you don’t want a hefty annual fee, you may choose the Capital One Venture to earn the same welcome bonus and still earn rewards towards travel on everyday purchases. On the other hand, if you’re an avid traveler that plans to use all of the card’s perks or you want to maximize rewards to earn free flights or hotels, you may benefit from the Venture X.
