The offshore wind industry has exploded into a multibillion-dollar global business critical to the world’s energy transition, but the U.S. has hardly built any clean-energy turbines off its shores. Danish energy firm Orsted is changing that, in part by developing what is so far only the second major U.S. offshore wind project, South Fork Wind, off the coast of Long Island, New York, with construction starting in February. The company is also planning a slew of other projects up and down the East Coast, and it’s bringing dozens of U.S. workers to train in Europe to help build them.
