When is Prime Day 2024

A few notable early Amazon Prime Day deals have gone live sooner than expected, but the 10th Amazon Prime Day officially starts at 3am EST on July 16th, and wraps up at 3am EST on July 17th.

Are Prime Day deals the same on both days?

No. Most of Prime Day’s tech deals will begin on July 16th, but other sales will start on the 17th.

Please note that there will also be “Limited Deals” that will randomly appear during Prime Day; these sales are especially low, but rarely last more than a few hours and sell out quickly. If you see any tech deals that catch your attention during Prime Day, and there’s an animated timer winding down on the page, add it to your cart and buy it while it’s still available!

How does Prime Day work?

Being an Amazon Prime member gives you exclusive access to the thousands of deep discounts offered during their yearly Prime Day shopping event, alongside other worthwhile perks such as free video games via Prime Gaming, unlimited access to the Prime Video streaming app (normally $8.99 per month,) and free shipping on every item marked with the Prime logo on Amazon.

If you’d like to take advantage of the Prime Day deals for the first time, Amazon offers a free 30-day membership to new members. After that Prime Day is available for $14.99 per month, and at a cost-saving deal of $139 for a yearly subscription.

Do you need to be an Amazon Prime member to shop Prime Day deals?

Absolutely, yet. The massive Prime Day sales and discounts are only available to Amazon Prime subscribers.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

How to prepare for the Prime Day sale

After signing up for an Amazon Prime subscription, be sure your payment and address information has been entered correctly so you can quickly jump on any popular tech deals before they become unavailable.

Tips for finding the best Prime Day deals

Before you dive into the sea of Prime Day deals to randomly search for interesting finds, take a few minutes to make a list of tech items that you’d love to buy if they were on sale. Does your old printer give you a headache when you need to use it? Consider upcoming birthdays and holidays so you can snap up affordable videogames and earbuds. Don’t forget to treat yourself to a special thing or two while it’s on sale too!

Even after your first time scanning through what Prime Day has to offer, plan on coming back a few times before the event ends. You may be surprised at the number of great tech deals that pop up at random!

Double-check that the tech products you plan on buying have the “Prime” logo on the page. This notes that the item will quickly ship to you for free, and is sold either by Amazon or a trusted third-party seller.

What retailers offer the best Prime Day alternatives?

It’s undeniable that Amazon’s Prime Day is the must-browse shopping event of the summer, but savvy shoppers will take a moment to compare the price of the items in their cart to competing websites before checking out just in case. Some of the best alternate retailers include Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Dell, LG Electronics, Apple, Samsung, Jabra, and Sonos.

Some of our favorite alternate Prime Day sales include:

Dell – Some of their desktops are deeply discounted right now, including the Inspiron Small Desktop (Intel® Core™ i5 14400) for $200 off, and $300 off an Inspiron 27 ' All-in-One Desktop with FHD Touch Screen i7.
