Rowan University

Glassboro, NJwww.rowan.edu
Rowan University, located in southern New Jersey, was founded as a teachers college in 1923. In the decades since, however, it has evolved into a public university with about a dozen colleges and schools. Its current enrollment is about 18,500 students, roughly 15,000 of them undergraduates. Students have a choice of about 75 bachelor's degree programs in fields such as accounting, communications, engineering, and performing arts; they most frequently choose business, biology, education, and psychology. The university is divided between three New Jersey sites: the main branch in Glassboro, the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, and the Cooper Medical School in Camden. In Rowan's Virtual Reality Center, students interested in new technologies get to study and develop 3D mapping projects, like rocket test engines for NASA. And a planetarium, on the Glassboro campus, is available for student research and public events. RU's main campus in Glassboro is about 20 miles from Philadelphia.
