"We told him how much we admire his message of mercy and tenderness"
Mark Zuckerberg met with Pope Francis at the Vatican during a trip to Italy.
The co-founder and chief executive of Facebook and his wife Priscilla Chan visited with the Pope to talk about the importance of communication and connection. “We told him how much we admire his message of mercy and tenderness, and how he’s found new ways to communicate with people of every faith around the world,” Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post. “We also discussed the importance of connecting people, especially in parts of the world without internet access.”
Zuckerberg presented the head of the Catholic Church with a model of Aquila, a solar-powered aircraft that will grant internet connectivity to places without access. He wrote on Facebook that it was a meeting he and Chan would never forget. “You can feel his warmth and kindness, and how deeply he cares about helping people.”
