A strong connection at first sight, or swipe, is possible. We’re naturally wired to make quick judgments based off very little information and take far more into account than just attractiveness. We often underestimate the amount of information we can capture from a quick glance in person or at photos—our minds are powerful enough to pick up thin slices of information and form a narrative that serves as the basis for a strong connection to another person, even at first sight. A brief glance can reveal so many characteristics about a person, ranging from personality to interests and even someone’s compatibility. We know that compatibility and love are distinct, but compatibility is the first step.
