During a recent interview, I asked Dr. Eric Topol, founder of the Scripps Research Translational Institute and an obsessive tweeter of COVID-19 research, which pandemic precautions he’s still taking. Here’s what he said. — Jamie Ducharme

 

“Yesterday, I did a test on one of the grandkids outside before we had a visit. I use a KN95 when I go to the grocery store. I avoid any in-person meetings when possible, especially when there have been waves of infections. If the circulating virus is low, I adjust what I would do and liberalize things more. What’s the chief concern? Not that you would die or wind up in the hospital. The issue is Long COVID.”
